Mobile WiFI - Slower on Hotspot than Box

I can't get a wired connection at my house so I use a mobile WiFi option from EE.
I currently have two SIMS, one is unlimited data which I use with the 4GEE box, and the other is my Samsung phone with 50GB data.
Both achieve similar speeds but my contracts are up for renewal and I thought I'd just upgrade my Samsung to an unlimited deal then cancel the SIM only / 4GEE box.
My plan was to just use my phone as a hotspot instead and so save some cash.
However, I need to WFH and when my work laptop connects to the 4GEE box it gets the correct speed.
When my own laptop and desktop connects to my Samsung hotspot, they get the correct speed
BUT when I connect my work laptop to my Samsung hotspot the speed drops from c25Mbps to 0.3Mbps.
I asked me partner to test her hotspot with her work computer and she gets the right speeds. When I connect my work laptop to that hotspot, it drops to 0.3Mbps again.
So it seems that the work laptop is somehow set to recognise a hotspot and slow itself down but IT are saying there's no such setting.
Does anyone have any ideas?
I don't want to keep paying for two plans when one should do but I can't work with my hotspot speed of 0.3Mbps.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Simple, if it's a work laptop and you are working from home then get your employer to pay for the 4g EE service.0

If it helps any, both are showing as:
Protocol: WiFi 4 (802.11n)
Security: WPA2-personal
Network band: 2.4Ghz (I've tried 5Ghz but doesn't recognise Network)
Link speed: 144Mbps
My partners hotspot are the same, except that link speed is 150Mbps0
