Cannot see where they state the policy is cancelled ?

My insurance has been voided due to not having committing to work

It says insurance voided in OP or are you suggesting cancelled and voided are 2 different things?
Its mainly semantics but generally "voided" means its been cancelled back to inception as if it never existed whereas "cancelled" can be back to inception (as noted above) or can be from some other point forward in which case it did "exist" before the effective date of the cancellation.
Surely back to inception should only happen if they wouldn't cover the risk? It would be odd for them not to cover commuting.

I had great success going directly through the third party insurers. It's in their interests to be reasonable and keep their own costs down by getting your car sorted quickly etc. If their offer is unreasonably low then they automatically become liable for your legal fees if you have to take them to court and get awarded more than they offered.

No, intentional and reckless false/non-disclosure under CIDRA allows the policy to be voided/cancelled back to inception and premiums retained

Legal fees are only claimable in Fast Track and Multi-Track... assuming the claim is property damage only that means losses would have to be over £10,000
