Power Banks

I’m looking to buy a power bank for 2 iPhones (6 & 7). I know nothing about these and am looking at the Anker ones. I rang their CS to see if I get some advice but they weren’t that clear. The one that was suggested was the PowerCore 13000 as they said my phone would not cope with anything over 10 watts (I had been looking at the 20000 and 20100). In view of the fact that I may need to change my phone at some time, would it be wiser to go for higher spec than the 13000 to “future protect” if I did need to change my iPhone for a newer model?

There are two considerations, one is the capacity of the battery pack. You need to work out what size the batteries are in the phones and how many times you will need to charge them between when you will be able to recharge the pack.
The second is the output power rating. What is the input capability of the phones and what is the output of the ports. If the port is higher than the phone, the phone will be the limit, but the fact the port is capable of more does not stop it working. If you then change to a phone which can take a higher charge then the difference really is the speed it will charge at. If the port is lower it will just take longer and if that is not an issue then fine.
So in reality, if you will need to top up a phone whilst away and can recharge the pack before you will deplete it then it won't make much difference if it is the lower capacity / slower one or higher / faster. If however you will be wanting to get as much power in as quickly as you can because you will only be able to use the battery pack for short times or will be unable to recharge the pack before depleting it then the larger / faster one will be better.
Size is also a consideration, the larger the capacity the bigger the pack usually.
Obviously the other factor is price, if a big difference then the above is a good consideration, if its not and the higher price is acceptable then just go for it.1 -

We have two sizes.
Smaller lipstick sized for a pocket to do topups to see us through the day if away from charging but phone should last anyway
Larger capacity for the full days out where a full charge may be needed.
Check prices/value the 20000 is ~£30 with 20% off
