talksoccer, read the post from jo3uk immediately before your own post, I think it just about covers it.

Also read the rest of this thread, mobile phones have been discussed before as a wat of making money on ebay, and discounted.

Come back and let us know though what you decide and how you get on.

Jeans are a very good money maker on eBay if you can find a good, trustworthy seller WHICH IS NOT EASY! I thought I had one until he TRIED to rip me off big time.

Also there is always the question of how real the jeans are...well either they are real or fake and lets be honest 99% of the time the bulk lots of jeans are fake. Just be careful with who you send £100s to!! You don't want to regret it afterwards when it is too late.

PS Soo I've always been interested to take a look at your eBay - is your eBay ID soolin?

  • Yeh i agree totally about the fake jeans. Even in my local town you walk around and you see people selling fake prada, stone island etc jackets and i always wondered where they get all this stuff from and how they sell it for a very cheap price too.

Im currently in the process of researching into finding a few companies may have to look in the possibilities of dropshipping and im also looking at some suppliers, if anyone knows any please pm me

    Thanks again

Try visiting Thailand - 'Diesel' and 'Evisu' are available in abundance there - thats where a lot of the real stuff gets made anyway so I'm guessin the fakes get exported to the UK too?

There are no decent drop shipping sites, sorry to be so blunt. Drop shipping means you take all the hits, you do all the work and you pay all the fees, if there was any profit in it the shippers would be doing it for themselves.

    Good grief talksoccer,

I just checked out the sites you mentioned and you weren't joking when you said it would be difficult to make a profit. Many of the items at 'wholesale' prices were considerably dearer than shops on the high street.

As an example, the last pair of Calvin Klein jeans I bought, in a moment of madness as I don't wear jeans!, were £19 in TK Maxx, they had smaller less popular sizes like 8 and 10 reduced to £12 as well.

Have you ever considered local paper ads like loot or Friday ad? Although I haven't seen large lots there are some bargains to be found if you know what you are looking for. I sell on ebay, mostly mobile phones and I used to source them from the loot. However I did this only as a hobby and so only sold one phone per fortnight or so. The returns were not too bad eg a nokia I once bought for £100 sold for 147 after paypal deductions.

I stopped the loot as I didn't feel it was safe anymore meeting all these strangers to buy their phones.

Now because I've secured a good reliable source of phones from a UK network rep through social/business contact it is a bit more fun.
The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.
  • if you care to share it please pm me it mate :)

  • Mobile phones are pretty "low profit" items but you can turn a profit on them if you sell them in the right market, as someone mentioned above ebay is not the best of places.

I started buying in bulk from ebay but found that most of the stuff (actually nearly all :-/) was expensive & not UK spec, ie foreign language default setup & manuals etc. etc
You can even have problems with warranties as I have done in some cases.

I buy my phones (and gadgets, they seem to be quite a good little earner at the moment) from an authorised uk wholesale co. and there are places around where you don't have to buy in huge bulk.
