What should I do?

Options
It's not been confirmed but hinted at that redundancy is on the horizon as my job is being automated.  I've been there 5 years and have just been offered another position in a new department, I'm really interested in. New career path and security,  yay. Problem is that I'll be earning £600 a month less. I just don't know what to do. I'm getting no answers from my boss and quite frankly I don't know what to believe. Any advice would be hugely appreciated 🙏

£600 less a month is peanuts if you earn £10,000 a month, but quite substantial if you earn £2,000 a month
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • Yes, we'll let's say it quite substantial then

You know your current financial situation better than anyone else here. Could you manage on £600 pm less?

They could say that new job is a suitable alternative.

Did you apply or was it just offered?

What's the payout statutory is going to be upto £2720 depending on age and any 2022 increase in cap.
That won't last long out of work.
Any prospect with new employer on similar money.

If job is being automated and you are supporting the transition you could try asking for a temporary wage match(full or partial) but no pay rises till job catches up.
