Towel Radiator

Morning.
I need a 400W towel radiator in my bathroom. I'm electric only house but want a radiator with a timer function. Everything I'm reading says I need a bluetooth version like Terma Moa that links yo your phone. Just read that I may be able to get a normal towel rail like the £70 blyss one in Screwfix but buy an electric element separately. Is this right? Am I missing anything? Any recommendations?

  • Ours is just wired through the wall to a regular 3-pin plug, which we plug in to a cheap-as-chips mechanical timer switch. Works a treat, we just have to remember to change it when the clocks change, or if there's been a power outage. (And yes - my recollection is that ours was one of those where it was simply the case that you needed to select the option for an electric element).

Are you saying it is connected to a mains plug in an adjacent room?

Wouldn't be the first time I'd seen that done sadly...

I found the following vey quickly (which is only 300W) so bet there are options around that don't need remote control/bluetooth connectivity.

The cable runs through the wall (fully sealed round) into the airing cupboard on the other side. Installed by a qualified electrician and the installation is fully approved and certificated by an independent one.

  • Another option is to have the towel rail wired into a fixed FCU timer like

No different to using a plug-in timer really, but looks more 'installed'
