Did you know, more than one in three from the South West (37 per cent) would rather have a gift card or voucher than a present chosen by someone else and 44 per cent said getting one shows that the giver really cares about what they wanted.
Of those that thought it was acceptable to give gift vouchers as presents, more than half of those from the South West (60 per cent) said they avoid upsetting the recipient with inappropriate gifts.
Most people from the South West wouldn't have chosen up to half the gifts they received if they had the choice and the younger the recipient the more likely they are to exchange gifts for something they really want.
While the older age group are less likely to exchange any unwanted gifts, more than one in five (28 per cent) of all Britons aged 18 - 24 years had exchanged some gifts over the past 12 months.
These are the findings of recent YouGov research commissioned by The Voucher and Gift Card Association (The Va) which involved more than 2000 Britons and aimed to unlock peoples' perceptions of gift cards and vouchers ahead of the Christmas season.
