Fixed Contract Finished with Octopus Energy - Automatically moved to EON without permission?
Hi All,
My fixed rate finished with Octopus Energy as of 16th Feb, but confusingly for some reason my bill got transferred over to EON energy. Im about to review what the costs are, but im shocked they have done this without letting us know. Ive heard from other family members that they have also been 'moved along' by Octopus Energy.
Has anyone had the same issue? Is this even allowed?

Suppliers don't just move consumers onto another company: it is illegal to do so without the consumer's consent. You appear to be the victim of an Erroneous Transfer: that is, EoN has erroneously taken over your supply.
Contact Octopus and advise them to invoke the Erroneous Transfer procedure. Your supply will be transferred back to Octopus and you will pay Octopus as if nothing had happened.
PS: Are you sure that there isn't a family member working behind the scenes who is collecting referral fees for switching family members?0 -

A family WhatsApp message or email warning that this has happened to you and mentioning that "Octopus think it's a bit suspicious so are going to investigate" should ring alarm bells if anyone IS doing something so deceitful as to arrange switches without telling people - on the other hand it does seem implausible that nobody has seen the emails!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

OP hasn't signed up to any switching services have they?0

Good point, if the switch was close to the end of a fixed tariff ending then that is also a very likely cause...TheMilkmansDad said:OP hasn't signed up to any switching services have they?

Other than (the now defunct) Utility Point moving some of their Electricity customers to (the also now defunct) Neon Reef without consent if past posts are to be believed......[Deleted User] said:Suppliers don't just move consumers onto another company0
