Energy bills were under-estimated for 2 years after finally getting meter reading...what to do

Farrella said:The previous owner who did a runner had a different supplier, that account must have closed based on an estimate. At the time we wrongly assumed that their supplier would only close an account with a real reading. Back then the energy bill was pretty low on list of priorities unfortunately, the flat had to be totally rebuilt with new plumbling, wiring etc.
When you purchased the property, did you contact the previous owners supplier and inform them you now owned the property?
When you changed supplier, the new supplier would have asked for an opening meter reading. Was one supplied?0
