Ha - I have just had the same happen. My accountant has no idea, says it appears to be something to do with extra pension payments I may have made (I never made any additional pension payments when working for the NHS) but he says I will have to pay tax on it"Find out where it came from" is nigh on impossible with the NHS pensions payment body/website. I too was hoping someone would have something more concrete! At least I know I am not alone1

This seems to have been going on for years - the reference appears always to begin JIM but the final letter varies. E K M Q O......

Looking forward to receiving my first pension payment on the 24th!
When my (relatively) large lump sum payment went into the bank the statement entry was followed by: "JIMO NHS MNTHLY A" so I am hoping that a huge error has been made and that I will be receiving my lump sum payment every month from now on - somehow I doubt it, watch this space...

Yes, - Mine says JIMO so the letter at the end must change yearly. Thank you1

I would like to know more about the JIMH NHS MNTHLY , PLEASE.0

We just received one of these payments in our bank, designated JIMT NHS MN. Later that day a letter arrived from the NHS stating it was due to a "retirement lump sum index linked second bite pensions increase". It relates to the 2023 Pension Increase Review effective 10 April 2023 and the starting date the pension benefits became payable. Well, thanks very much NHS, but could you show me your workings? Honestly, how anyone works out that an NHS pension payment is exactly what you are entitled to is anyone's guess (but at least, unlike HMRC, we don't owe them a payment!)0
