I received a shipment from Shopplay, a retailer I use quite a lot. With this it came with my items and inside of the box was around 8 flattened cardboard boxes with other peoples names and addresses on.
what can I do here?

Step over them. Or put them in the recycling bin so they're not in your way.iViewTV said:I received a shipment from Shopplay, a retailer I use quite a lot. With this it came with my items and inside of the box was around 8 flattened cardboard boxes with other peoples names and addresses on.

Oh, and if you're really concerned about personal data security, don't post (Removed by Forum Team)'s name and address on a public forum, or the address of the person from Hove.11 -
You might also contact the retailer in question and advise them that it's not a good idea to include waste like this as packaging.0

I agree they shouldn't do it. I suppose they are heeding the exhortation for us all to reuse as well as recycle.
I am curious though about how they come to possess all these boxes clearly from different retailers?0 -
I reckon you should demand some compo of Shopplay0

I would guess they've acquired some "recycling" from somewhere and are using it as padding. I suspect they're not a data controller in relation to the individuals in question, so not sure they actually have any DPA obligations.Alderbank said:

I always remove the labels before putting in the recycling myself.
iViewTV - i suggest you remove the picture or mask those third party details...Peter

Good point. They have not 'processed' the data. Quite the reverse in fact.user1977 said:
