Failed tenancy check

Found a potential flat to rent via an estate agents. They used an agency to run the reference/credit checks. Been told the checks failed or the checking agency has come back with a not recommended. However neither agency will tell us why it failed or on what grounds. No debt, full employment, good credit score. Without knowing why it failed we have no way of appealing or rectifying anything for future renting. Can they both withhold this information??

When you granted them permission to run such checks permit did agreement allow you to get such information please?

Agents and landlords often lie by saying checks state they must not rent to such-and-such tenant. It's always up to the landlord/agent (eg if credit check comes back just missing recommended income to be able to afford rent).

My best ever tenants only had one reference being recent arrivals in UK so no credit history.  A neighbour who I'd known for a few years told me "Mr Artful, they very nice people" - and they were!

It could just be that the rent was too much for your pay.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Very unlikely they'll see your credit score. They'll be looking at the information on your report.

Have you check all three reports? There might be a negative mark on one but not the others.

And you think this person has a cat in hell's chance of getting another property with this LA in this market?
