In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. You don't turn off comments, you just stop looking at the thread. Other people can continue the discussion if they wish.Walters_mum said:Thanks all. Your scheme is very uncommon indeed. If she's of sound mind and wants to help then maybe you can be a good daughter and suggest that she signs up here and asks for advice herself.Walters_mum said:
Nobody is taking money from her. She's of sound mind, I'm an only child and she wants to help. I think you'll find that's not uncommon for a parent.Chris_English said:
If you have power of attourney then you should be thinking about what’s best for her.Walters_mum said:Thanks, we have LPA. My great Aunt spent 30 years in a care home (although I think that's unlikely for my 83 year old mother!)
I’m not sure that taking her money so you can have a nicer house really fits into that.
You having power of attorney and being the one to ask for help on how your mother can ented into this rathe rthan gifting you the money sets alarm bells ringing.0
