Landlords post

Currently have no postal agreement with landlord for when his post comes to our home. We are now being told we have to pay half of a late bill he's recieved for not passing on the post.
Citizens advice say don't pay a penny but apparently Citizens advice telling them we have to pay? Very confused.
On contact it say any post should be sorted within a reasonable amount of time. We had letter 2 weeks before final letter? Can anyone help?

Right can you explain a bit more?
Your landlord is getting his post still sent to your address?
His problem not yours.
Perhaps he hasn't got consent to let from mortgage company, again his problem.
Perhaps he is claiming something he shouldn't, again his problem. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.2 -
Why should you have to pay something when it's your landlord's bill? He should know when his bills are due and if they are not received should deal with whatever company it is. As Grumpel has said - his problem.
That said - presumably you have an address for LL? Is there a reason you didn't forward it? And by that I mean simply writing his address on the envelope and dropping it into a post box. If the post office doesn't deliver it or returns it to the billing company then that's not your problem, again, it's his.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. So apparently this is a council tax bill for when the property was empty before we moved in.
Its only really ever been this letter thats come to his address. Apparently because it the property in question but citizens advice said we would know being a landlord of many other properties that if property is empty he's still got to pay.
But because I had a letter at home 2 weeks before a hand delivered letter from a debt collecting company I am not being told that for the 1st letter not being taken straight to him I have to pay half of the late payment of the council tax. They are telling me citizens advice are saying they need to get us to argee to pay or go to small claims court. For £150?
But citizens advice have told me 4 time legally I have nothing to pay as the bill is not even anything to do with us.
All our contact states is that post is sorted within reasonable time scale. 1st letter I has maybe in window no more than 2 weeks as I always empty window and hand held I contacted straight away as I could see it was a finally payment from debt collectors.0 -
No address for landlord as hes mentioned hes recently moved house.0

Tell him to do one and that you'll see him in court!
Cheeky sod!2 -
You have the date you moved in. If the bill doesn't include that date, how is it your problem? Also it's the landlord's responsibility to arrange to collect their own post at a time convenient with you.0

Times 2 and tell him you must have his current address.The_Unready said:Tell him to do one and that you'll see him in court!

A debt collection agency doesn't turn up 2 weeks after a bill has been issued. It must have been months since the first request for payment. How long have you lived there?
If he has lots of properties then he should know what to do and is being cheap in demanding you pay a portion.
How do you get hold of him if you don't have his address? Maybe a call or text would have been good but you could have just as easily put the letter in a post box saying "return to sender".
Still his bill, his problem.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Landlord should have advised the council of his current address and email contact.
Landlords problem, not yours.0 -
Sounds like stupid arrogant landlord is also on sort of fiddle (eg a residential mortgage rather that buy2let) or maybe not declaring rent income to HMRC.
Stick any post back in PO letter box with "not known at this address". Unless you might want a reference from him or don't want an s21 notice.
