Churchill insurance

Just received contents insurance renewal. Price up on last year by 40%. Looked at web comparison sites and found prices 60% cheaper than Churchill. Rang Churchill and asked if they wanted to review their price. Quoted me a figure 35% less than last year. Did not appreciate me telling them I felt I had been ripped off last year and they could stick their quote where the sun doesn't shine. Proves you really do need to look at the market each year. Now very happy with Swinton

Companies go through cycles.... price low to try and grab market share, price high because you've had some bad years and need to refill the pool. On top of that they have different claims experience, we had 5 break ins to 3 houses on our street and coincidently all were with the same insurance group so you'd expect that insurer to increase the premiums for the area whereas others would be blissfully unaware of the recent crime wave.
Certainly shop around but make sure you are buying best value rather than cheapest price... there are some poor quality policies out there designed to get people who just dont care about anything other than price.0 -
Nobody likes rude customers. If they were uncompetitive last year you should have shopped around. Being rude to the customer service staff isn't going to help.embebe said:Did not appreciate me telling them I felt I had been ripped off last year and they could stick their quote where the sun doesn't shine.
Good luck with that. If you want cheap, Swinton can do that. I'm none too sure about the customer service.embebe said:Now very happy with Swinton

This is why you shop around not just accept the renewal quote. Although I didn’t have a good experience with Churchill’s home emergency cover which lead to me switching insurers mid-term, I wouldn’t necessarily go with the cheapest insurer on a comparison site like Swindon either.embebe said:Just received contents insurance renewal. When I shop for Home Insurance my opinion is very much quality over price.0 -
Like to point out, it's not the callers fault about the prices!embebe said:Just received contents insurance renewal. Price up on last year by 40%. Saying that it is funny when the call is ended and we have a laugh with other colleagues about the attitude.0
