Hi all,
My daughter has managed to drop green dye on our wooden floor. We have tried cleaning it but unfortunately it has left white spots (please see pics) does anyone have any advice as to how we can restore it to normal colour?

Looks like solid wood? Light sanding to get rid of the dye then experimenting with various wood stains to get the correct colour remembering that any final wax/varnish will darken the final finish too. I've mixed stains together in the past to get the correct colour and if you blend it with the surrounding wood I think it will look OK. Either that or get a rug 😄1

What did you clean it with?
If this is a real wood floor then it looks like you've stripped the finish off the flooring. In which case I'd first finish the job with the green dye and strip it off using a bit of steel wool or sand it, then finish with whatever the floor is currently finished in, ie, wax, oil, satin etc. You'll probably have to blend it in to match.1 -
Nice floor! What finish is currently on it? Wax? Oil?1

Thanks so much all for the help. Really appreciate it. My little one is currently in the bad books with my wife lol. Sorry not too sure of what the finish is, the floor was here when we bought the house. I will take your advice on board and get mixing some stain lol. I actually have spare floorboards but would it be a big job to replace them?0

Agree with the others. But this doesn't look like stain to me. More some kind of wax or oil. It's very very close to the wood's natural colour with a product of that kind applied that makes it look a bit richer and darker. If you try stain, even a light one, I suspect you'll go way too far. It's much easier to go incrementally darker than it is to lighten up again.2

Agree with the above, it does look more like a wax oil than a hard satin stain type of finish. Best to get a lighter wax then you can build up the colour with multiple coats.1
