My 89 year old mother needed a new cooker so my brother took her buy one from Curry’s.It arrived about a week ago then a couple of days ago it switched itself off.My mother tried to put back on then it switch off again. She also now noticed the fridge was off. Then mum tried the fridge on another socket and it was fine. Then she called Curry’s who informed her she has to go to the store to complain luckily her neighbour could do this my only conclusion is this is because of age she lives about 5miles from the store.

I was intrigued by the title of being ‘discussed’ by Currys and was prepared for a slander story, however I am now a little confused about how the cooker and freezer are connected.I might be misunderstanding but it appears to be an issue of faulty house wiring , OP have I read that correctly? Perhaps OP you could also confirm whether the cooker was installed by Currys and what exactly did they have to do to the wiring that has affected possibly a socket ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sounds like cooker has tripped a RCD on fuse box & moving fridge plug has put it on another ring or spur.Life in the slow lane0

g0blin1, we are all saying your first priority is to get a qualified electrician to check the safety of your 89 year old mum's kitchen.
While he is there he will advise you about the cooker. I wonder if a helpful family member has stuck a 3 pin plug on the cable of a full size cooker?

Concur with the others: Get a qualified electrician to check out the wiring - especially the wiring on the cooker. If there is a problem with the wiring or someone has installed the cooker incorrectly, it could burn down your mothers house.0

It sounds like Curry's aren't at fault here.0
