Storing a King Size bed

Hi. Not sure where to put this question but settled on this board.
My mother and I need to store a king sized bed, to make room for a hospital style bed for my dad. The storage period may be weeks, months or even a year or two.
We don't have the ability to take the bed apart nor transport it anywhere.
Mum is willing to pay for it to be stored.
I have looked at storage solutions, but they seem to be self service.
I know that some removals companies will store stuff for yoou but I guess that will be for days/weeks as your living situation is sorted out.
I suppose a handyman with a van might be able to take the bed apart and take it to a storage place.
I suppose the more out there suggestions might be:
Take it apart and store it in the conservatory or garage. If kept in the garage, it would need to be covered to prevent dirt/dust accumulating.
Just get rid of it and buy a new bed when required.
Do you have any suggestions as to how we can deal with a king sized bed, possibly for retrieval later?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,just dismantle it, prop it against a wall, doesn't all have to be in same room, don't put mattress in garage, incase of damp.Do you need to keep it, somebody locally might be happy to take it off your hands.1

Sorry to hear about your dad being ill.
A man and van service would probably be your best bet. Arrange some self storage and get the man and van to shift it for you.
I suppose it all depends on how highly you value the bed. If it wasn't that expensive, it may work out cheaper to dispose of it and buy a new one when you need it. You may be able to sell it on gumtree, ebay etc and stipulate that buyer dismantles and removes. Alternatively, put it on freecycle - someone will gladly take it.

Check out the cost of a self-storage unit. You don't need anything massive, just something big enough to stand the bed and mattress on end. From the little research I've seen though, they can work out expensive if used for more than a few months. A man with a van will be able to move it for you.

Just make sure the mattress in really really dry. Friends asked us to store their bed and mattress for 6 months and when they undit the polythene the mattress was very mouldy.1

If it were me, I'd pay the council to get rid, and buy replacement when required ..1

Storage could cost you more than a new bed. Gumtree/Ebay/Freecyle - dismantle and collect only.0 -
Storage however if its going to be months then your mother might want to toss it and treat herself to a new bed.
Appreciate that you don't know how these things will work out however I'm sure you will all adjust well and hope you get the support needed for your father.0
