Does anyone know of any good/cheap lateral flow tests providers that I can use whilst in France. Will need to use them 3-4 times. We have a 13 year old who will not be getting the vaccine and need a test to go in to restaurants whilst there. Anyone have any ideas?

What is the requirement of evidence to get into a restaurant in France? For example with an english language certificate be accepted?

There are plenty of providers selling tests, prices have gone back up since the mass sell off of stock immediately prior to the ending of tests to fly/enter the UK but worth checking the French requirements first as most still focus on producing results for the UK market.

We have been in this exact situation. Holiday in France with a teen who had only had one dose of the vaccine  before we travelled.

To eat in restaurants we had to obtain a negative test result certificate with a QR code that is compatible with France’s Covid-19 health pass scheme.

This can only be obtained by paying for a test at  a designated pharmacy, clinic or lab in France - you can find them listed here : https://www.sante.fr/cf/centres-depistage-covid.html

    Antigen test costs €23-€30

When booking a test appointment bear in mind that the QR code only lasts 24 hours from the time the test is taken .

Because of this we only ate out once on our last trip because of the expense and hassle of getting a suitable test slot - but we were in a semi- rural location and the clinic only had tests slots available for a couple of hours each morning. Might be easier in the cities.
  • Thank you on onashoestring. I have heard different times for the code i.e. 72/48/24hrs. But I will take your advice on this.

Is it only on the ground French test facilities that you can use and not an online service?

We are hoping we will only need the test for occasional trips to restaurants and not our campsite. My understanding is that if the campsite does not have pool or inside communal area then they do not require a pass sanitaire.

Things may have changed since we travelled. However I have checked this evening and both U.K. Gov website and French Gov website are still saying for 12-15 year old to get pass sanitaire they need of proof of negative test within 24 hours .

It has to be a designated Healthcare professional who conducts the test and issues the QR code . The QR code is only valid for 24 hours .

The rules may change again before you travel.

Assuming vaccinated: My NHS document was scanned by most places. For unvaccinated travellers the Tousanticovid app will be required.

There was an attitude in some restaurants of 'you wouldn't be in France if you couldn't eat here', but I wouldn't want to risk that.

Most pharmacies can do them, I had a result by e-mail in around 20 minutes. I think the cost was around €25 for a random pharmacy in a shopping centre. The pharmacy I used had 'test antigennique' on the door in large letters.

I'm not sure how to upload this to the Tousanticovid app (it will be required to do so in this case) as this wasn't necessary for my circumstances.
