Well done with the water bills. That’s a saving of almost £200 over the year. Not bad going for just a few minutes of your time.

This month, I want to challenge myself to look for my dh premium bonds. I remember when we bought a house together over 25 yes ago seeing them and putting them with some of his keep safe bits in a box. But six moves later and 25 odd years and I don't think they are in the box. Stuff has been chucked out and the box got condensed a few times so they may have been thrown out. Dh did try to contact PB but they couldn't help. Dh has a very common name and hasn't a clue which address they were registered too as when he received them 56 years ago, he was living in Germany.

I will try looking in the box one more time as that really is my last chance. I'm the sort of person who knows where everything is in my house except for these bloomin' PB!

    Wish me luck!

Hi Mickyh-s! I had to stop by and say hello as I'm on the same timeline as you and our Natwest mortgage is similar amount to yours. It will be a good motivation to race you to the finishing line ;)

I read through your thread and something that really resonated with me is what you said about unnecessary spending. Back in August last year I came across @fundacjaocalenie- it's a Polish charity helping refugees. I was watching their insta stories of night patrols in forests, bringing food and medical help to people that had nothing and I could just feel that my mindset completely shifted. I was a terrible spendaholic before that and suddenly felt so stupid for not being grateful for everything I have and always wanting more. I went cold turkey, haven't bought any new clothes since and only buy something if it's absolute necessity. I decluttered my house (to be truthful I'm still decluttering :#), started listening to The Minimalists podcast and to be honest all of those changes have a very positive impact on our life. Hope it doesn't sound too preachy ;) I just wanted to share it as I never thought I would change my attitude to money.

Fingers crossed you'll find your DH's bonds!

    Hi @Martas! No mfw diary??

I should be grateful for what I have instead of "rewarding" myself with gifts and food especially with what is going on in the world at the moment. I have cut up the cc and taking a few of my purchases back to store for a refund. Going to try to be a bit more mindful of my spending.

    Hi @Aimingforthegoodlife

I'm on a bit of a roll at the moment (when I'm not unnecessary spending) but it's won't last. I have car mot and a few other bits coming up over the next few months so just got to try to stay focused.

So, I have cut the cc up – I just can’t trust myself with it. I now owe over £400 on it so will need to take money away from OP on the mortgage at the end of this month to settle up. I’m so annoyed at myself!

I had a good look for the PB slips but couldn’t find them anywhere. I will assume they have been accidently thrown away – such a shame as I’m sure something would have been won in 56 odd years!

Going to spend the next 4-5 weeks decluttering the house ready to do a car boot around Easter time when the forecast is a bit better.  It will be a good opportunity to have a good spring clean and have a tidy up whilst making a few quid.

No more op on the mortgage until the beginning of April now as that is when I can draw money from the BTL house account.

Having done some calculations, I don’t think I can reach my target of paying 10% off the mortgage this year which is really frustrating. I may have to see what dh has in his accounts!

No sign of a holder's card either? Hopefully they may not have been together & that may have been kept.  Old diaries or notes on old bank statements. A very long shot I know but they traced a friend of mine's from a date.
"said tongue in cheek whilst laughing"  Be careful if you are going to buy more.  If the 2 together go over the £50k they are now trying to combine these old accounts & are pulling back winnings from those who have over that.

No, no holder's card @badmemory. I have been looking for them for years and I think they have been thrown out by accident so I'm going to try to forget about them.
