I still have not got my car back but that's ok as I'm putting miles on someone else's car! The part is probable coming from Russia which is why there is going to be a big delay.

No op to the mortgage account for a while now what with having to buy another car, dh birthday and a few other bits i have paid out for.  We go on holiday in the next week so I need to get over that and get back into some sort of routine and stop spending money!

I worked out the daily interests on the mortgage today and at £2.28 it's not too high.  I have another year on my fix of 1.32% so need to pay off as much as possible in the next year as I don't think the interest rates will be as low as that this time next year!

Monthly mortgage payment goes into mortgage account tomorrow so balance will be £61,449.25.

Lovely to have a small mortgage though. Sounds like you have been working hard at it.

    Enjoy your holiday.

We had a lovely impromptu day out to Burlghley House in Stamford just up the road from us. We met my cousin and his wife. The private gardens were open and it was a glorious day. Entrance and parking were free - very mse! My cousin treated us to a full English breakfast and then at the end of our visit we paid for afternoon tea.

Today we are visiting fil in hospital then have a bbq this evening while I am really looking forward to.

I hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday.

I have had a call from the garage to say my car is ready. Fingers crossed the issue has been sorted. I will pick it up on Saturday as we are still in Spain on holiday.

It's been lovely and sunny her on the Costa del Sol. Have tried not to spend silly money - I think it's easily done when on holiday. We have had a fab time and only spent £350 for 11 nights. We are not big drinkers and went half board so two meals a day are included - we don't need much more than that! Water in the hotel is 2.80 Euros vs in a supermarket up the road 19 cents...it's an mse no brainer!

I'm a little disappointed with myself for not having funds to op on the mortgage for a while but that's my own fault for overspending on stuff I think I deserve - I need to really reign it in.  I have dh's birthday at the end of this month a d going to see mil for her 80th in July with an overnight stay, petrol, a meal out and a gift 😬.

20th July mark's the end of the first year fix. I'm hoping to get the mortgage balance to under 60k 🤞 would have been nice to get to 10% of starting balance but that's not possible.

Flying home in the morning and I'm looking forward to getting home.

    Enjoy the weekend!

I take gas and electric meter readings on the 1st of every month and send then to my supplier via the app. For the month of May, we used £20 of gas and £67 of electricity. When we went on holiday for 11days I switched the water off and turned everything off at the switch. It will be interesting to see what my usage is when I enter readings on the 1st July.

I would like to get my electricity down a bit more. We have a spare ff in the garage which is switched on which I use occasionally. It may be worth switching it off towards the end of the summer as I do use it more in the summer. I think using the oven less could help too so will have a think of meals which don't use the oven. There is lots of little things we already do to save electricity, just need to research the BIG electricity users.

There are lots of articles on 'vampire' devices that may help with energy usage.

Glad you had a nice holiday.

Thanks @savingholmes. Going to have a Google tonight and make an effort to reduce electric consumption.
