(Another!) probate question

I’m ploughing on with the IHT and probate process, and I’ve come upon yet another snag, in that no one knows the exact date of my relative’s divorce.
it now looks like I’ve got another wait on my hands as I’ll need to apply to the central court - and cough up £65 - to find the information.
However, the ex spouse has been dead for several years.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Should I be trying to obtain a copy of their death certificate as well as the divorce date?
Or is there a cut off point at which an ex spouse wouldn’t be entitled to claim on the estate anyway?
I should add: there is a will and a sole beneficiary.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this reads like waffle; I actually feel like picking my way through this process is driving me crazy!

Why do you think you need this?
What changes depending on the date?0 -
There’s a question on the probate form asking about marital status. If divorced they want to know the date of divorce.
This suggests that ex spouses may have some rights to the estate of a deceased ex.
However in this case, they are also deceased so I’m not sure if I’ll need to provide this information also.
sorry - I know I’m twisting myself in knots - I’m just trying to fend off any possible future delays!0 -
2.9 or 2.11 depending on form.
also
2.10 or 2.11What is the name of the court where the Decree Absolute, Decree of Dissolution of Partnership or Decree of Judicial Separation was issued?Think you may need it one for the probate hot line I think.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I think there’s no avoiding it. I’ve filled out the application to the central court - kicking myself for not spotting the question earlier!0 -
Easily done......
I recommend anyone embarking on the task does a trial run early on.
do a PA1 and the IHT forms to get a list of questions for the unknowns and "what does that mean"
then pick them off one at a time.
Any chance probate for the Ex has that information might be worth contacting their administrator.
