Dvla mileage record

Hi i wanted to ask what can be done to rectify a mot history. The general mileage done a year is around 5-10k which is reasonable but in one year it suddenly did nearly 45k! Then buying it (from an auction) it has mileage as if it appears that sudden mileage for the one year is a mistake.
Is it true mot record freeze or can I contact dvla? I’d of course be contacting the tester/using diagnostics and ascertaining the mileage, not just ringing dvla out of the nowhere.
Thanks

45 is advisable by 9 which maybe down to transposition of figures. 72 rather than 27? 94 rather than 49? Are either of those close to the milage?3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds0

It's the DVSA, not DVLA.0

Are you saying the actual mileage reflects the average low mileage and then the one year of high mileage?
Apart from the inconsistent use profile, why do you think the mileage recorded at the MOT is incorrect?
What other mileage indicators are there? Service book? Previous change of keeper?
There are several ways that a car could have an irregular profile of actual mileage. Here are some entirely plausible possibilities:- Company lease car on 4-year lease at 20k miles / year. Original user is a "perk" car doing low mileage, so three years at 10k miles per year average equals 30k miles. Fourth year, the car is swapped over to a service engineer or sale representative doing far more miles, say 45k. Total at end of lease = 75k miles. Good fleet management.
- Private owner with change of job, house, or both.
- High mileage driver seeking to mitigate depreciation. Buy a below average used car, do high mileage for one year, sell the average mileage used car

Can the OP post actual mileage history based upon whatever sources of record they have available?
MOT history
NMR
Service records
Keeper changes
Adverts
If that can be shared, like the OP in the following thread, it will make it easier to see if there is a discrepancy / mistake, or the car genuinely did a high mileage one year:

Apologies for late reply. The garage that did new mot recently said that they advise I speak to dvla and to check with previous mot tester so will do that. Since they also thought it was strange.0

I recall a similar case many years ago when the figure was entered wrong on the MOT certificate to what was entered on the job card. Car was in for Service/MOT and two different technicians It was appealed to DVLA with documentry proof from the servicing garage
