Morning all, Raining here, supposed to be dry in the afternoon, but then the wind is to get up.....it seems we either have strong winds, rain (or snow or sleet), or both, most days at the moment! I went out a nice walk yesterday, was thinking 'ah the weather is half decent', then the rain clouds turned into actual rain! Ah well, I still enjoyed the walk, it's one of my free ways of exercising and decompressing! Not much planned for today really, DS off school until Wed, and so is DH, so family time, and the usual sorting laundry that never seems to dry fast enough (old heating, damp house), we're doing well on not washing clothes too often though and only when actually dirty/smelly! Anyway, I digress, just really here to say hi again and to wish you all a good week, and that you are able to cope with whatever challenges come along. Happy Valentine's to those who celebrate it, I've never been big on it, but we all have different things that matter to us.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It chucked it down relentlessly all day yesterday then today started off fine. Sadly it didn't last, the rain is back again.
The lighter mornings find me up and at 'em much sooner than the dark mornings when I sit around roaming the net until daylight! I've got quite a few jobs out of the way already. I think I may have now ground to a stop!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies or fed up. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC, hope work is ok today.
We should be looking at a trip to Oz as well Gers, haven't seen our family (in the flesh at any rate) since 2017. They were supposed to be coming here, they had it all booked in 2020, no go of course, then 2021, still no good. even if they could have come here, they might not have been able to get back into Australia. We have 3 beautiful grandsons there who are fast growing up!
It's wet and windy here again, yesterday was terrible.
It's the usual day here, dgd will be coming for her tea.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.
We felt really safe when we flew to Australia in December last year for seven weeks. We had to jump though quite a lot of hoops re entering as parents, but all restrictions lifted I think now, depending where you go? Go for it, was amazing to see the DGDs after two years and two months.

My last visit to Oz was in 2016 for the funeral of one of my nephews. I swore I wouldn't go back again as I'd been more than ten times over the years. Now I've relented so will do one final last visit. Oldest and youngest nephews now have children so getting them together will be a joy, along with middle nephew and niece. My SIL moved to a large piece of land in QLD which I want to see, plus she'll be 70 in September, it'll be good to be there for her birthday.
I'm not totally convinced that I want to go, however it's the right thing for them. I'm acutely aware of loss and these are now my nearest family and I love them. The things we do for family! 😍 Upstairs is sorted for the cleaners, I've taken out the three drawers from the wee chest so that they can lift it away from the wall. Incidentally, I was given that chest for my 11th birthday, along with a matching desk. Desk has long gone. How's that for MSE.
Raining here, & meant to be all week really- not ideal for half term. I'm looking after DGS today and tomorrow, he has mentioned going to the museum in town. I'll ring DS to check what he's upto as with the rain he & DH might not be able to do much at work on a new extension. The foundations are dug out now but the brickie might not want to start if it's wet.
Our friends who retired to Spain messaged last night, they're here for a few days to see their DGC, & short of time but were wondering if they could manage a drink tonight if they get back from a visit. We'll see.
Tea last night was roast pork & all the trimmings, followed by sticky toffee pud. I'd better look in the freezer soon.
Right better go, have a good day x

Hello all, sorry to have been missing for a while but my health and MH had deteriorated over the last couple of weeks. Anyway as there's nothing I can do about the former I have decided to pull up my shoe straps and do something about the latter, so no more moping about, it was getting me nowhere fast. The weather here has been dire, lots of wind and heavy rain for days on end it seems, but this morning it's dry with another weather warning for this afternoon 🙁 Today I have made big pot of meatballs in Italian tomato sauce and it's bubbling away in the slow cooker ready for tomorrow. I'm making enough for leftovers to portion up and freeze too. Should really have had it today for a Valentines "candlelit supper" so pie and chips will have to do 😁 I did buy a box of chocs in my online order which came yesterday though ! I'm not worrying about the diet now as I've not really been eating much lately anyway and already lost a bit of weight without trying and we've even had fish and chips from the local chip shop ooops! It's changed ownership and the food is so much better now with a much wider range of meals including a chicken dinner and pork and stuffing rolls. Right I'll stop waffling now or you'll be telling me to clear off again ! Hugs to anyone in need and congrats to the one, Snoozer I think, who has had lovely baby news. Take care all, stay safe and warm nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently
Morning all. Busy ish weekend, did all the stuff on Friday, got my new tablets, i suspect they hare having the same effect as the old ones were [magnesium] but if it stops me jumping out of bed at night with cramp [ I say jumping, but there's no jumping, just varying degrees of lumber] then I'll go with it for a week or so to check. Hair is cut, tea and cake with the ladies was had on Saturday where I managed to pick up some skirt and a sympathy card for a neighbour. His wife had died suddenly last Sunday but I didn't know until Friday. Roast done eysterday, enough for today, phone call to friend in Australia done this morning [ hence lateness, was supposed to be yesterday but she'd had a carp day in work so was postponed] Have to phone the surgery for an appt, after the last blood test and magic cupboard has just finished doing it's thing.

I'm so sorry you aren't feeling so good Nan. Many of us seem to be struggling at times. The past couple of years have reminded me of Hannah Hauxwells " Too long a Winter" not just storms weatherwise but sometimes getting through each day one at a time.
The forums are a good way to keep in touch on both good and bad days. Yesterday my next door neighbours must have thought I'd finally lost the plot. Ming Vase/ Mardatha or whoever she is at the time hadn't posted for a while. Her husband hasn't been well and she wasn't too good herself.
We were talking behind her back over on the Garden Fence. Heffalumps "accidentally" wandering in to her freezer and unable to get out as the door had "accidentally" closed.
Back she came pretty sharpish. " First ever Manifestation of a Possessed Freezer in Scotland. So unfortunate that I had to own it. I should get compensation"
No idea how she thinks these things up but I roared laughing and kept having a giggle each time I thought of it.
All we can do is take each day as it comes. Rain lashing the windows and a howling wind woke me in the early hours. Now the sun is shining and the wind has dropped , still cold but it's February so not unexpected. We've had the Storm Dudley advance warning. Srorm Arwen killed my gas boiler but I can't control the weather.
The garden bulbs are starting to flower , the snowdrops are my harbingers of Spring.
I've been taking virtual snowdrop walks as we haven't been able to take our normal ones the past couple of years. BBC NW news showed the ones in Chester a coup;e of days ago.
I do hope things pick up for you soon Nan.Take care. Wishing all on the daily good days and better times to come.

Wet and windy here, but I've been put for a walk with friends around a local reservoir. Forgot my hat and gloves so got a bit cold 🥶 but thoroughly enjoyed catching up with them.
We don't really do Valentines either but as we've had some steak lurking in the freezer for some time we're going to have steak & chips for dinner 😋
Had sunshine and showers plus a rainbow here - it is quite chilly. Not good weather for half term but then it is February - at least there is no white stuff. Think the new film - The Duke will be worth forking out for a cinema ticket. Got some yogurt dough out of the freezer for pizza tonight. Wonders! Dgs has started to visit charity shops and actually bought some clothes from there. Working on more bunnies.
