Just had a quote for quartz, three pieces about 6m length in total - £1600 supply, template and fit.

Appliances we bought mainly from AO, but started buying about 6 months in advance when we saw good deals.
Blimey - that seems good. Where is that from?

We've got about 9 metres but 2 quotes have all been 4k+ to supply, template and fit. (South East)

It's always worth trying to find a local supplier for stone worktops.

We wanted a particular black granite (silver/white flecks instead of the gold that most black granite had at the time). A local supplier sourced it for us and charged £1400 to template, supply and fit. That was for a 2.5 metre x 90cm peninsular with rounded corners, around 2.5m of standard size worktop, sink cutout, drainer gooves and upstands. They quoted us around £1700 to start with but when they came to fit it, they knocked some off as they managed to get all the cutouts from one slab. It was an excellent job and still looks as good as the day it was fitted.
  • +1 for local supplier. Our kitchen fitter quoted circa £3000 for a 3m countertop plus 2.4x1.2m island. Found a local company that some of the local kitchen suppliers use and they quoted £2000 for the same thing.

I think it must be in the right ball park

    We've had

    4.8k
    4.3k
    4.4k

From 3 different places. More than I was expecting (I was hoping it would start with a 3) but if that's the price, then it would seem that's the price.

Can't believe Howdens would be cheaper than that.

Under a bit of time constraints as well as the Feb sales are upon us and after that the prices on the quartz go way up.

Just make sure that whoever you buy from is selling a good quality branded quartz. Quartz is manmade and should be a specific ratio of stone and resin. Some cheaper suppliers may be supplying poorer quality quartz that has more resin in it.
