Can anyone give a ball park figure for my budget? (While I wait for a proper quote)

I know, I know - the string is this long! But...
I have called a couple of Gas Safe engineers to ask for a quote, but no one has come back to me so far. I'm trying to allocate things in a budget and ideally need a price range to allow for this job.
We want to change our Aga to a conventional cooker but we do not have a cooker connection (other than 13amp socket nearby). It looks to be easier to have a gas connection installed than an electric cooker socket at the moment, so despite the pros/cons of gas, a gas cooker it is.
The gas pipe from the meter to the boiler runs outside on the wall directly behind where we would like the new cooker. So the theory is to T into that and through the wall for a bayonet fitting on the other side. That's how it works in my mind anyway - happy to be corrected.
I just need an idea of whether it is likely to be a couple of hundred or north of £1k. Anyone like to hazard a guess for me?
As always, thank you.

Can't give you a price but it may be that the whole gas pipe will need replacing with a larger one if it is 15mm.1

You, or the Gas Safe fitter, will need to check on the dimensions of the gas pipe that currently supplies the boiler only. Is it 15mm 22mm or 28mm or something else?ChasingtheWelshdream said:

It is possible you may need to renew back to the meter with a larger pipe if it is not sufficient to meet the demands of the boiler and the new cooker.
I can't help on cost estimates but I would guess in hundreds rather than more than a thousand pounds.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".1 -
Thank you both, very helpful. The pipe measures 25mm - so is that 22mm internal? It is a job that will be done regardless but I’ll allow the the higher hundreds. Selling the Aga will fund replacement appliances so I’m only needing a ball park to see what I can get for my remaining money. :-:smile:0

If you have no power socket near where the cooker is going to be, make sure it has battery for the ignition system rather than needing mains.

There is a socket right next to it so that’s ok. Just alas no gas. There used to be it seems.0
