Or not as avoidance for that has already been built into the solution.spot1034 said:I'm sure the Mail will be on standby to report the first instance of someone having to make an unexpected trip to hospital or to assist a frail elderly relative who's had a problem at home, and who has broken down on the way as their car's battery has run out of power.

You get paid more for what you export than you pay, off-peak, to recharge.

In some cases you don’t but it doesn’t mean that people lose out:Verdigris said:You get paid more for what you export than you pay, off-peak, to recharge.

Imported and exported kWh are price and amount matched. A Powerwall 2 owner who subscribes to the scheme can consume 4500kWh/year and pay £79 a year in charges (less than the annual standing charge). This is another grid-balancing initiative overseen by Octopus with the battery algorithm controlled by Tesla. The scheme doesn’t care when energy in the home is used. Exports to the Grid are when demand is high with battery-charging when energy demand is low.0
