Energy prices switch now or hold

Hi, I am on a fixed dual fuel until end of April. Is it worth staying as I am or switching now? Either with the same provider or another?

Have they sent you an offer* yet? If not, then anything publicly available atm is probably at rates way above even the forecast SVT from April 1st.
Also, you will probably be using more energy per month up until the end of April than you will during the late spring/summer months so best use it at the cheapest i.e. existing rates.

*If they come forward with a good "loyalty" tariff offer for you as an existing customer it may be worth considering rather than going onto SVT.

I been given a exclusive offer by the same provider for 12 months fixed
  • As Martin Lewis said on his show last night, look at the offer they have given you and calculate whether you will be better taking that offer or going onto SVT. Martin said it's only worth taking it if it's no more than a 60ish% rise as the current price hike is 54% but predicted to rise again 20% in Oct so if your offered tariff is 60% higher then its probably worth taking the gamble and fixing in with that to protect yourself until April 2023
  • I'm with SP and my fixed ends this month.
I have been offered a 1 year fixed tariff which will be below the SVT come April, so will be switching at the end of the month.. but not before as don't want to prematurely end the rates i am on now.
I've had it confirmed by SP the offered tariff will still be available at the end of the month.

Thus would be worth asking your provider how long the offered tariff is available for.
