I opened my main current account in 1983 and it does not appear on my credit reports from Experian, Equifax or Transunion. I am aware that this is because the account pre-dates the date when opening a bank account also gave authority for them to report it to the CRAs.

What I would like to know is if I apply for credit and give this account for identity checking purposes, will the bank be able to see it?

  • Only the bank with which you hold the account, as it doesn't appear on your credit files.

But it makes very little difference.

Thanks. I assume therefore that they would credit check me on only what they see on my credit report, and disregard the account I said I had.
  • They don't check current accounts which usually report nothing anyway unless you have an overdraft as it's not credit hstory
