Smart meter display

I have a display unit in my living room for my smart meter, I noticed a big disparity between what I thought I'd used and my bill last month. When I checked I can see that the smart meter matches in electricity, but my bill can be up to £10 more in gas charges than the display shows.
I tried to email Bulb- but no response- any ideas?

  • Check the tariff information on the IHD. The gas information on your IHD comes from a gas proxy meter in the communications hub. This proxy meter takes actual usage from the gas meter every 30 minutes. It then uses a fixed CV to calculate your kWh usage, and the tariff information from your meter to calculate cost. I suspect that your tariff information is incorrect and it needs to be updated: only your supplier can update the tariff.

Do the kWh readings for gas correspond? If they do, it may be that your unit rate hasn't been updated, for some reason, or the calorific value of the gas has changed and not been adjusted (less likely).
  • £10? I'm guessing it's standing charges. But I don't have a smart meter so u sure if that's taken in to account on the screen.

IHD cost calculations should include the daily standing charge and the unit price. WNC comms hubs have been known to omit the standing charge for gas even though it has been sent correctly to the meter by the supplier.
