EDF- Welcome Variable Tarriff

I moved into new property November which was being supplied by Utility Point. Following a formal complaint I only got my EDF account set up and first eye-watering bill in January. However I am now concerned the s/c for electric on this charge is too high when I look at the current cap. (S/C 26.46 / Cap 24.88). When i read about the tariff on EDFs website it reads like a SVR tarrif (can change, no exit fees etc) so should this not also be governed by the cap? Before I contact to EDF I would first just like to know if anyone has any thoughts on this as I'd like to have my facts straight. I am in the north east. Thanks.

You need to tell us what the unit rate is, and how you pay your bill.0

Thanks. It looks like EDF have placed you on their cash/cheque tariff. The cap for this is higher than for DD payments, and it's the DD cap that's generally quoted. If you switch to paying by DD (and that includes their pay-monthly-in-full-by-DD option) you'll get the lower rate. You might be able to switch in you on-line account or you might need to contact them via webchat. phone, text message etc.Edit: I was wrong, see correct info below.N. Hampshire, he/him. Hmm I set the account up to pay direct debit so shouldn't be on cash/cheque. I pay fixed amount monthly with payment plan on top for current bill. Duel fuel. North East
Electric
unit rate 20.12 (current cap 20.8)
s/c 26.46 (current cap 24.88)
Gas
unit rate 3.9555 (cap 4.07)
s/c 26.12 (cap 26.12)
At first I thought I had the current cap for elec s/c wrong but I've rechecked on offgem and here too.0 -

online account too. I'll try to contact them by phone today. I started a wattsapp chat with them at 8:15 yesterday morning and still waiting for an advisor to message.0

Electric is well under the cap for unit rates though, does this not mean they can charge more on the standing charge? I dont know the answer to this btw.0

I dont know the answer to this btw.No, the standing charge is specifically capped on its own.It is probably your 'payment plan' that is keeping you off the cheaper advance payment tariff...

I was thinking the same, or if its different for the north east? I've now spoken with EDF and the advisor wasn't sure how to explain it, but thinks its geographical (not payment plan) so is speaking with manager to contact me back with update.MWT said:emmajones1976 said:Electric is well under the cap for unit rates though, does this not mean they can charge more on the standing charge? Looks to be correct for the North East region so all is as it should be.CElliott81 said:I was thinking the same, or if its different for the north east?
