Party cancelled twice, DJ being shirty

  • Without wishing to be mean, please look at this from his position. You have wasted his time on two significant earning weekends (NYE and Valentines) and he will be unlikely to get more than the deposit out of you. It is entirely his fault if he does not have a contract requiring you to pay more for cancelling at this stage, but expecting him to be completely fine about the whole thing is not a reasonable position.

Your nervous disposition does not change the fact that you have cost him time and money. You have even changed your position on here (cancelled, but wanted to postpone due to a mistake caused by toddlers, but now say that his behaviour since YOU cancelled make you uncomfortable with the thought of postponing etc) and allege that you think he wouldn't show up if you did postpone now - you made the call and cancelled. Beyond that is pure speculation on your part.

If you have no contractual agreement then legally you don't have to pay up if he asks. If you are seeking moral grounds to refuse payment if there is a contract, then honestly, you don't have them.

Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Put yourself in the DJ's shoes. It's their living. It's how they pay their bills. Your important party can be rescheduled to another day ..........
