Hello,

NPower supply our electricity.

Do they also look after (responsible for) the meter and connection to our house or is this a different provider (i.e. the original installer)?

We live in the North West.

Thanks

    Hi,

Your Supplier does not own any equipment, they just own your registration to a service which they buy energy for and bill you back for it.

The meter is owned by the Meter Operator who is an agent appointed to maintain your meter by your Supplier via a contract.

The cables/cut out/JP fuses etc which are all before the meter, are the property of the Distributor. These are the guys who supply the actual electricity to the region.

Anything after the meter, is yours with the exception of an isolator switch which is fitted by the Meter Operator (if you have one that is)

So, if you need the meter replacing - contact your Supplier (Npower) who will arrange an appointment with their appointed Meter Operator for your region.

If you have an issue with the supply itself e.g. you wanted the cabling moved - you contact the Distributor direct as thye operate independantly.

Where are you on this map? That will identify the Distributor to you.

NW is United Utilities is you fit into the old Norweb region.

However, Npower don't use all the agenst set out for the original regions. So, don't worry about Meter Operators, they will take care of that.

What do you need to know anyway? If you can post more info, I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.
