Or maybe the advisories from last year now need doing and that makes it not worth it? I'm not sure what those advisories are likely to cost to resolve. No rust listed, though, so unlikely to fail on corrosion after only one extra year.
Or maybe the owner knows there is more needs doing that makes it not worth it?
Could the owner have a friendly garage and said, do an MOT, but if it's going to fail then let's just call it a pre-MOT inspection?Could be any of those, you'd think if it would pass they'd spend £30 on one and then it would surely sell quicker and for more with an MOT until June '22.With the Daily Fail & Express constantly bombarding the windows 10 clickbait feed with dire warnings of heatwaves ( I must find out how to turn it off) people's thoughts turn to convertibles for the Summer...
EDIT: dead easy. Right click taskbar, News & Interests, turn off. Sorted
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

The question was more about the likelihood they will last for a year (and be some fun to drive!)
I know we've got global warming and all that, but is Summer going to last a whole year?

MX-5 definitely. Massive fun to drive, despite modest performance, cheap to run* and mine was 100% stone reliable. I bought a Mk 2 (NB) for £1500, and when it failed on chassis rust three years later I sold it to an enthusiast for a few hundreds. So basically a grand for three years' fun. Can't recommend them highly enough.
*The modest performance means that things like tyres are mainstream stuff and cheap/easy to find. Compare the Jag XK8 I looked after briefly - four new tyres on that one would have cost well over a grand. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -

I could only imagine that the car is unlikely to pass that MOT, otherwise, you'd get that done before selling. So £750 to have a convertible for a month and then maybe get £250 back for scrap. You would have to rely on a period of excellent weather to make that worthwhile.
Change of owner (log book update) 15th June - a few days before the MOT expiry.
Passed the MOT at first presentation 20th June at 109k miles - pretty much the same advisories as last year.
No way of knowing whether the new owner had to do any work to get the car through the MOT, but it seems possibly not. Someone got a bit of a fun car for a season for a bargain.0 -
Going back to my earlier post, i sold the Mk1 and currently have the one pictured.
Definitely get an MX-5 in your life if you're after a convertible and only need 2 seats.
