Final hurdle - is this a ridiculous wait?

Essentially, our new build was completed 2 weeks ago (after a 6 week unexpected delay!) and certificates were issued the same day.
They were sent to the developer’s insurer to sign off prior to being able to give Notice for Completion.

We’re still waiting and keep getting told that it should be back by the end of that given day

Is this a long time to wait??

We’re currently staying in a hotel, dogs are in kennels etc so these further delays are hitting us hard!

Has the NHBC inspected the property yet? Unlikely to be the same the day the build was finished. Mortgage lender won't release funds until the certificate is issued.
  • Thanks for your reply.

By finished, I meant inspected. Apologies I didn’t word that as clearly as I should.

It’s been 2 weeks since the certificate was issued, it’s now with developers insurer to sign it off before our solicitor can give it to our lender to draw down.

it’s the delay with the insurers that’s frustrating us!

That's a tough position to be in. You have my sympathy. Move to a dog friendly hotel, maybe?

By the way, I once visited a hotel where the owners had 3 or 4 mastiffs loose in the place. They couldn't understand why they had so few guests staying!
