neighbours garage roof on party wall.

Options
My neighbour intends to remove and renew her garage roof, which is attached to our party wall, The roof is a corrugated Asbestos, and been there
since late 60's. and the corrugated overlaps ours.  We are worried that if our roof is disturbed it will cause out roof to leak. Do we need to draw up a Party Wall Agreement?

You can do but employing surveyors is a bit over the top.   I'd think a sensible conversation with whoever is doing the roofing would be your best bet.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • I have this issue with the house I am buying - it shares a garage roof with the neighbour despite both being otherwise detached houses. If we wanted to extend, we would have to knock down their garage because the roof is connected. I've asked the solicitor to investigate, because if I can't extend/renovate downstairs, that is an issue with buying the house. I reckon it will probably come down to an agreement between neighbours - but whether this needs legal paperwork or not I'll find out.
  • We are hoping to make a Party Wall agreement without going down the legal path, but with a using template
where we can have a mutual agreement
that any damage done by the work taken out they will taken on the livability for repairs.
