County Court Business Centre Claim Form

Hi All,
Just over 3 years ago, I was hit with a £60 parking fine for parking in a car park at a McDonald's on a retail park. I was with my elderly Grandma who doesn't walk well, the kids were playing in the play area and having a good time, I didn't realise there was a time limit on the car park. When is there ever at a McDonalds? So I ended up going slightly over.
I've been binning the letters for the whole 3 years plus but todayI got a rather worrying one stating it's from the County Court Business Centre. I did some googling and it seems they're able to issue CCJs. Obviously, that's not something I want so I'm now thinking I'll have to respond. It's up to £291 now which I really don't want to pay. What are my options? I'm willing to go to court if I thought I could win and get the charge overturned.
I have a redacted copy of the letter I could share but I'm not sure how to add attachments currently..
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Lee

Just attach a picture of the redacted claim form
What is the issue date ?
Which parking company ?
A complaint to McDonald's would be a good idea
Most private parking spots have time limits , especially big fast food shops like Mickey dees1 -
I called the McDonalds store at the time (in 2018) and they told me there’s nothing they could do after the fact (I should have told them whilst I was there). I had no idea there was even any kind of limit hence I didn’t.Here’s the letter (first page):1

It’s UKCPS:

The claim form say it is UKPC2

Yes, that’s right, thanks, it must be them then. To be honest, I wasn’t sure and found that picture of the sign on an article in the paper from 2021. I don’t have any pictures of the sign from the date of the alleged offence in 2018.

With a Claim Issue Date of 8th February, you have until Monday 28th February to file an Acknowledgment of Service. Do not file an AoS before 12th February, but otherwise there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.To file an AoS, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.Having filed an AoS in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Monday 14th March 2022 to file your Defence. That's over four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute. To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service instructions.Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.2 -
And read other UKPC Claim threads. Easy to copy and learn from others and this is defendable.
Following the new Code of Practice this week, I hope for and predict lots of discontinuances this year and if that is the case, what goes around comes around to the bullyboy roboclaim lot.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks so much for your replies, I’ve just filed my AOS.
With the defence… I’m seeing it’s pretty standard and there’s not too much I need to put in about my individual case. Is that right?
I’m now kicking myself I didn’t save all the letters from the beginning as I can’t even remember the timings. I’m sure I was about 10 minutes over and I had two young children and my elderly grandma with me. I do have a bank statement from the day which shows I spent money in the McDonalds I was parked in.
With the SAR lead times (at least a month). I’m feeling it’s not worth doing that as I’ll not have the information in time to file my defence. Does that sound about right?
Also, when I’ve written my defence, can I post it here for feedback?
Thanks in advance for any further help,

Which in turn means you don't need the SAR response yet.alledgedrex said:With the SAR lead times (at least a month). I’m feeling it’s not worth doing that as I’ll not have the information in time to file my defence. Does that sound about right?
The information returned as a result of you sending the parking company a Subject Access Request will be far more use at Witness Statement writing time - some months away.
The sooner you send them a SAR, the sooner you will have their response.1
