My car on hire purchase finance has broken, what are my options

But to be clear, the OP will need to clear the balance first - or at least the difference between settlement and sale price.0

It is a tricky one, even if you replace the engine at the cheapest price even without a clutch. It could still break down as people have complained... I believe the Ford dealer may use a modified engine, which may stop the problem occurring again. Having an ecoboost name on your car is like having a 666 on it.
Maybe sell it as spares on ebay, and get a sub £1000 car and just swallow the pill and pay off the HP. But you cannot sell it as ontheroad1970 has said as you do not own the car. When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche
Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.1 -
Strictly, yes you can, but you do not have clear title until the balance is cleared. So you would have to clear the difference between what the buyer pays and the settlement figure. Buyers are often hesitant when there is a balance to pay, they will be even more so when a new engine is being talked about. You could get it repaired and then look at VT, if you are beyond the 50% point, but the repair will have to be a decent repair.peter12345678910 said:It is a tricky one, even if you replace the engine at the cheapest price even without a clutch.
