Hi new to all of this! Well here goes!
Well as you've guessed I'm in debt. 67k. Spent several hours last night reading your threads have got the general idea about sorting it all out. Will be ring agencies today.
How did it happen? Well for a start I'm self-employed and over the last year or so I've been looking after my mum and dad. Spending time with them and not on my business.Sadly mum died in september but I'm still looking after dad not on a day to day basis. He's finding mum's death very hard. Together 54years! But I was still spending at the same rate. Well it's all caught up now.
I was doing the one thing Martin said not to do. Live on credit cards!
I also tried to get into the buy to let thing and now it's proving all most impossible to either let or sell the property.
I also have a back problem due to my line of work (driving instructor) and just to top it all off I slipped in Tesco, on some fruit on the floor landed on my back and now I'm having more problems, can only sit for short periods.
Not good when you do my job!
God that feels better just telling you lot. Haven't told anyone the full extent.
Sorry if I've gone on a bit and the spelling etc. Tears getting in the way.

Hi
Welcome to the forum - you will find some very good advice and help here. Just avoid the obvious trolls and take no notice.
You have done the right thing in deciding to consult the debt charities - you MUST get skilled advice and they dont charge - never go to anyone who charges for the advice.
I am not an expert, just a grateful member who was been helped a lot but I am sure one of the "brains" of this board will be along soon ... Good luck and don't be afraid to ask about anything even if you think it sounds silly, Best wishes0 -
Hiya & welcome...1st thing no apologies for ranting! does everyone good sometimes!!

Hi Made
Welcome to the board. There is a great deal of support and advice on here from all of us that have been there!
I hope that you have got a claim in with Tesco's? Clearly negligence on their behalf.
Dont panic. You can sort all this out. Chat to the charites and prepare a statement of affairs and let us have a look - we will do our best to help and support you on this

Do not apologise for ranting/letting of steam or having a winge we all need to and others who understand what your going through can ease the stress a little.

Hi,
It took me a long time to admit to myself that I needed to declare bankrupt.. and I was so upset.. I felt stupid, greedy and a failure.. It was a major turning point though. Once I had got over the upset I decided on what to do and how to do it.
I read up a lot on bankruptcy and took my time deciding.
I have now been bankrupt a week today and I finally feel like I am getting closer to the goal of controlling my life and spending. I can budget again. Fine, it may only be £30, but at least I know that £30 I have won't be going on debts!
Stick with it, and you will be fine x

Don't bite too hard you may break a tooth, you don't need the dentist fee's on top of everything else :rotfl:

Joking aside, welcome on board, there are some lovely people here with great advise, so shout whenever you like, we have all been where you are standing, and it does look very daunting now, but it will get better one way or the other. National debtline are fantastic, took me ages to call them, I forget how many times I diled the number then put the phone down took a few week to do it, I thought everyone would be down on me for being such an idiot, but no one is.
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Good Luck

Just to say that everyone on here is very helpful and any questions you have will be answered in a positive manner. I made the decision a few weeks ago after speaking to CCCS and have booked my BR hearing and am looking for a house to rent.
I think the worst part was making the decision and facing reality. The rest won't be easy, but at least you will know what you are doing and where you are heading.
Take care

Lucielle the first thing you need to do is contact one of the debt charities, see my sig, they will go through your options with you. If they advise that BR is an option we will be able to talk you through the process and give you all the support you need.
If you go for an IVA pop on to the debt free wanabee board and they will be able to help you.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
