Renting a house with low income

Hi all
im looking to rent my first house with my girlfriend. She earns around 18k a year with a new job she has recently started.
I am a self employed gardener for the last three years. Last year I earned 10k. I’m rather embarrassed by this but I love what I do and am always trying to improve my business. My question is if I’m renting a house what documents would they generally need to see?

I realise my income is low, however I have 22k in savings which I plan to live off while I grow my business.
many thanks for your help.

How much is the rent for the property you're looking for? Most LLs / LAs ask for joint monthly income around 3x the monthly rent. If you're under that, you may be able to boost your chances if you can offer a guarantor who earns more?Rtj123 said:Hi all

A guarantor will increase your chances.
The LL will want to see proof that you can comfortably afford the monthly rent.

Just provide copies of last 3 years tax returns to show what an honourable and honest person you.
Good luck, hope it works out0
