Hi,
I received a CCJ for old tenants who no longer live at this address, I now own this home, what should I do? I got a judgement of order through the post of just over 10k. Will this go on to my file due to the address?
Couldn't find any other area of forum that this fit in with for advise...
Thanks

No. Addresses don't have credit histories, only people.
It's for the old tenants to sort out.1 -
Perfect - just checking this isn't going to affect me when I have searches done at this address, wasn't sure if it was a marker for the address too.
They are not in the country, they were foreign and have taken out 100k bounce back loans, maxed out credit cards, loans and hire car. This CCJ is for another properties rental which was unpaid for a entire year.
I know for sure they will not be able to recover this and would like to avoid enforcement agents coming to my address.0 -
You should send it back marked as not at the address but be prepared for more coming as debtors will use that trick all the time, keep your proof of purchasing documents.
Might also be worth writing to the collectors if they come back and make it clear when you bought the property and that the old people have gone.0 -
i have already been doing that but they continue coming so stopped doing it lol.0

Any further correspondence you receive addressed to the old tenants should simply be returned to sender, unopened.0

As above - doesnt matter how many times I do that it either gets re-sent again almost immediately or ignored and other letters come back.0

And whatever you don't let bailiffs in....0

I think I will print off my mortgage deeds and proof of ownership and have it by the door...0
