Holiday cancellation due to mental health issues - refund question
Comments
-
I know many people that holiday alone! My parents are currently in far flung location on holiday so the whole pandemic thing isn't particularly an issue any more. If I didn't have fixed holidays and childcare responsibilities I'd jump at the chance at a week away! And Mr Pinkshoes would be delighted with the peace and quiet...lisyloo said:
That’s a fab idea - if there is someone not working, wanting to travel in a pandemic, has the spending money and will go on their own (I suspect not that easy even to give away).pinkshoes said:Why can't they pay to have the name changed on the ticket and someone else go?!
If they can't use the holiday they might as well let someone else go and have an amazing time!
(And if Easyjet have re-sold the ticket, then they have mitigated their losses so some sort of refund might be due...)
but a fab idea

Well if they they have cancelled but phone to re-book, and Easyjet cannot do this because they have re-sold it, then you will have an answer. They cannot profit twice from the package.
There would be no way of proving or disproving this, at this point the OP's mate is relying solely on their goodwill.pinkshoes said:

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

No. Those werent the terms they agreed to.Jenni_D said:Just thinking laterally ... if EasyJet manage to rebook the package with someone else, shouldn't the OP('s friend) get their money back (less any admin charges and loss of revenue/profit if it had to be sold cheaper)?
Doesnt matter consumer rights override any companies T&C's, in this case it mitigating the loss. If they resell the seat then the flight cost would need refunded, same with the accomodation. In other words they cant get paid twice.emmajones1976 said:

However it's all good in theory but the flight would have to be full, they can sell all the empty seats first before your friends, same goes for the accomodation but even getting information on this would prove difficult.
In the small claims court Easyjet would have to prove they didn't resell the package or part of it, thats the only way to find out
but it can be done, all the friend would need is a flight number and accomodation details. it's a hassle but it;s the law and there if needed.
Finding out could be easy, on the day try and book the flight and accomodation, if you can't book one or botht then you have a case, if you can you dont.
