Thanks for updating, OP.  I don't think anyone had dismissed the stresses of working in nursing and you are absolutely correct that quality of life has to come ahead of any job, so sometimes you have to do what you have to do.  I also don't think there were judgemental comments, but people trying to understand as the situation of leaving a job as quick as 3 weeks is not common.

    As for:

I’m now more concerned other nurses will have fallen into this trap and want to know where to report this. I don’t think it’s right a huge corporate company especially employing nurses can just let us end up in this situation.
I don't think there is anywhere to "report" what you see as a "trap" and nor do I think it is a practice that is specific to nursing or uncommon in general.

I work in engineering and construction and it is quite common that employers pay a "car allowance" and then stipulate certain parameters for a car that is suitable to fulfil the role and present a suitable image for the employer.  An age limitation (often 5 or 6 years) and a 4/5-door requirement are common.

With regard to the Jazz, what did you pay for the car?  Are you certain the £14k is the "settlement" amount and not the amount owing if the finance runs full term?  It is a mistake that people sometimes make, partly because finance companies don't always give the correct number either.

It is great that you recovered from cancer and trying to put something back into that system that worked for you - good luck with finding whatever future role you can find as your next challenge.

Meeksymandy said: Yes it was a full time job but two days working from home so didn’t feel full time. I’ve never left a job after three weeks in my life but they were appalling and I am a good nurse who at nearly 59yeas was not prepared to be treated so badly. I’m a cancer nurse btw and because I had cancer 12 years ago and had such amazing treatment that’s the kind of nursing I wanted to do plus because of cancer I never wanted to work in a stressful job again

Sorry to hear that but it sounds like you definitely made the right decision to leave from a personal view even if financially it has caused issues.

In terms of reporting to help others if you are entirely factual you could always post a review on their Google or Facebook profiles so that others can see. If you stick to facts then it can't be claimed to be defamation or libel. Or you could put the company name in this thread or the job forum but that might mean it gets taken down by MSE.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • So £14,000 is the settlement fee the finance co gave me when I contacted them, it expires after a few weeks and you request another one. This is what I have to at to own the car outright.
It’s all my own fault, I’m often led by emotions and so don’t always read the small print or believe things can go wrong.
I’ll land on my feet because I’ll do all I can to try to change the situation which is why I posted on here.
Thanks for all the well thought out and friendly advice. 🙂

What are the details of the finance? PCP/HP? Monthly payment, number of payments and APR?
Is it possible to refinance it somehow and see if you can bring the cost down to something you can afford?
