Interest loss for the bank - I think OP is under the same impression that some other posters are, i.e. that if banks don't process payments as quickly as some consider they should, they must be doing so in order to earn interest on that money!born_again said:> they could do it faster if they wanted to, but across 10000's of accounts they would lose out on the day-or-two's interest. Takes the mickey. <
Not sure where you think doing it faster would lose interest, unless you are thinking in terms of still carrying a balance & not paying in full.

My HSBC Credit Card is a MasterCard and not Visa ?.born_again said:Visa systems do not work in real time like bank accounts. At best they update once a day. But not over weekends.
What you should notice is that your available balance does increase within a short period (2 hours) of the payment amount.

As any payment to a CC is taken when the payment is received. NOT the actual debit date.0 -
Is it a Rewards one or Premier Credit card? If so they are MasterCard, the other credit cards are Visa.Saver101101 said:

I have Halifax mastercard. make a payment late friday evening. It will not show as a credited payment till tuesday. But will show as a increase in available balance pretty much straight away. 👍Life in the slow lane0 -
Old banks using Old systems. Newer banks using newer systems show the payment immediately (just as pending for a day or 2).born_again said:

So that is basically what I said. A pending payment is one that is not showing on a statement. 👍penners324 said:
