I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

It's always best when booking a hotel nowadays to phone ahead to see if they have parking vermin operating ?
Don't just accept when a booking site shows hotels with free parking. Many still have parking vermin and you need to enter details
So, phone first and if there is parking vermin operating, tell the hotel why you will not book with them. The penny will drop

I'd send a copy of that letter to the court and copy in the legal firm (if one was used) stating that you are expecting a Notice of Discontinuance and want this cancellation letter placed with the court file.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
