Thanks @kingstreet . If there is no transacions  to NL on the  most recent 2 banks statements only lest say 1,   I understand this wouldn't be used in calculation for affordability?
Quite! What I am suggesting is a worst case scenario and absolutely unlikely to happen but you appear to be concerned about it unnecessarily so I thought I'd paint it as black as possible.

Plenty of lenders don't ask for bank statements as well!

  • That's good to hear. I hope it will turn out I am worrying unnecessary.
But then why on every mortgage advising page you see that Gambing is a big NO when applying for mortgate.

They are all wrong, see my experience posted on this thread. Significant transactions that were never queried.

If you are worried, stop doing it online and start buying the tickets when you go down the shops.
  • Thanks again. I haven't bought lottery for a month now and not planing on doing it any more .
  • When lenders ask to see bank statements they are not looking for your £10pm DD to the Lotto. They are not going to care you spent £30 getting your hair done last month.

They are looking for the £300pm lease car you neglected to tell them about or the fact you get paid each month yet are still in your overdraft once your salary goes in etc etc.

You are worrying far too much.

  • Thanks for reply .
It's not direct debit that I had if that makes a difference.  So I would top up my NL account for amounts between £5 to £10 add a time to then play euro milions, lotto, sometimes instant wins etc . Just had a look through 12 months of my statements and there are entries every month. Not more than £30 in as single month but few transactions a month if this makes sense .
I am really sick with worry and will never touch lotto any more. Wish I had spent the money on something else.
We are applying for mortgage in April so I hope 2-3 months of no transactions will help.
But then knowing my luck Lenders will ask for more statements.
I am the lower earner as I work part-time  (  14 k) , other half self employed on about 34 k. Deposit of about 25k
  • As I said, go and buy the tickets down the shop.

You are still worrying far too much about this
  • I hope I am worrying too much for no reason like you say.
So when banks and lenders talk about big NO to gambling , they don't mean National lottery ?

they won’t be bothered about a few lottery transactions in the slightest, it’s all about affordability and risk, there is a huge difference between a few lottery transactions and excessive deposits to gambling sites
  • And as already said, I had hundreds of pounds of transactions on mine and not an eyelid was batted, so its not a hard and fast rule anyway
