British Gas Homecare Boiler price hike.

My British Gas Homecare policy on my boiler runs out in March. I am currently paying £78 pa. British Gas will move me onto a new Homecare cover costing £225.05 pa. Is this price hike fair? I can reduce the cost by agreeing to a £60 excess but even so this is a massive price uplift.

Have a look at Homeserve (same cover as BG) or look at home emergency cover through your home insurance (check it covers everything you want covering) but this wont cover boiler service so will have to get this done separately 

FYI - Aviva (including Quote me happy) use Homeserve for their home emergency. Only thing they don’t cover is replacement taps and your water pipe from meter to internal stop tap (you can get a 75p a month policy through Homeserve for this) and a boiler service.
