Not sure where to put this!! I live in a council house that has double glazing manufactured and installed by the council some years ago. It is crap!! But they say its ok, no kite mark on it or nothing! How can I contact someone who can support me? Any suggestions??

How long ago, exactly, were these windows installed ?Prior to October 2010, there was no requirement to mark sealed units with a kitemark for energy efficiency. If your units have "blown" and there is condensation forming between the two panes of glass, this will reduce the performance and they should be replaced. If the council don't want to do anything, try contacting your local councilor.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

We been here 17 years so a while ago! Seems temperature is coming through glass, no draughts. But can hear cars on tickover that park outside about 12 foot away. Council say they are OK, they checked seals found no problem and said they ok. Obviously they want to avoid cost of replacement.

Sounds like a trickle vent - That will probably be the spot where noise is getting in, along with some cold air. Hang some thick thermal curtains up close to the window(s). They will help to keep heat in during the evening/night and cut down on noise.baldrik_1 said: Not sure what they called, like a flap at top that opens, sorry not very knowledgeable!
