Hello all,
the energy price cap is confusing me and I really don't know what to do.
My price cap is due for renewal and I don't know whether to change or not - I know the advice says to stay put but my electricity is already off the fixed tariff and I am now £100 in debit after 2 months on normal tariff. My gas is due for renewal and I don't know what to do.

If you tell us the tariff you've been offered we can give you an idea of how it compares to the cap. Also if you let us know your estimated annual consumption numbers in kWh (you will find them on your bill, and your renewal notice) we can give you a reasonable idea of your monthly payment.N. Hi,
apologies for the late response - Covid hit my house and then work and it has been crazy!
Thank you for the response.
I am currently with 2 separate users for Gas and electricity, not as a choice. I was with Utility point and as I was changing over to E.On they went bust - my electricity changed over but not my gas.
Electricity: This is the tariff I am currently on:Next Flex
20.14 p/kWh 24.38 p/day
This is the cheapest offer I have been given by my provider:Supplier E.ONnext Tariff name Next Online v11 Tariff type 12-month fixed-term Payment method Direct Debit Unit rate 28.02p per kWh Standing charge 42.24p per day Assumed annual consumption 5,419kWh Estimated annual cost £1,672.71 Tariff Comparison Rate (TCR) 33.34p per kWh
Gas: This is the tariff I am on, which has become available with no end date. I am with EDFCurrent tariff
Unit rateGas: 7.343p per kWhGas unit rate: 7.343 pence per kilowatt hour
Daily standing chargeGas: 27.22p per day
but this is what I have been offered:Fix Total Service Long-Term
Your estimated annual gas use 17,380kWhUnit rate 9.043p
Daily standing charge 365 days at 27.22p per dayYour estimated annual gas cost £1,670.95
Thank you so much

Good to see you back
Electricity - Next Online V11 is as good a 12-month fix as you'll find at present. It's a similar tariff to the April cap but you get the certainty of no rise in October (when variable rates are expected to change again). If I was on a variable rate with E.ON I would be tempted by it.Gas - EDF's current fixed-rate deals don't look like good value to me (the 12-month fix is even worse, over 10p/kWh in my region). I'm with them for gas and expect to be sticking with the variable rate into April.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. That gas tariff at 7.434p is the April price rise and not the current SVR which is around 4.1p , lots of chatter on the various EDF threads about their incompetence.

Thank you so much, these figures are so confusing at times and with things changing I have no idea good value or not. I will have a look at EON, see if there are any offers for duel fuel. I don't like the idea of sticking with EDF if they are already charging higher than they should be.0

See if you can move your gas to Next Online V11 too.Mumtobe2016 said:Thank you so much, these figures are so confusing at times and with things changing I have no idea good value or not. They've made a pig's ear of their website and have started displaying the prices that apply from the 1st of April already, that's all.(If they were charging more than the cap they'd get swamped with complaints.)N. Hey, my gas is with EDF and electric with E.on (after previous providers went bust). I noticed the E.on Next Online V11 tariff and was keen to switch but it wouldn't let me move the gas across from EDF online. In the end I spoke to live chat at E.on Next they were really helpful and have agreed to move the gas across for me to the new tariff with new tariff for both starting on 11th March (due to cooling off period) . Really pleased as it gives me some certainty for September and no exit fee. Try their live chat (if offer is still available).Mumtobe2016 said:Thank you so much, these figures are so confusing at times and with things changing I have no idea good value or not.
