Reported on another forum, someone just coming to the end of his present fixed term on Octopus GO (old tariff 13.96p/kWh day 5p/kWh night) has gone up to 40.99p per kWh day (290%) and 24.72p per kWh night (490%)

That says to me Octopus don't want to maintain the Go tariff any more?

It says to me that he is looking at the wrong tariff...

Those are E7 rates, not 'Go'

This is 'Go' for Eastern region:

This is standard Octopus Fixed rate:

Their loyal tariff is cheaper of course, but doesn't match the numbers he is using...

Well spotted, I will go and tell him.  He is definitely on GO, he uses the cheap 4 hours to charge his EV and his house batteries.  So why would they instead quote him an E7 rate when his present GO rate ends?

But boy that E7 rate is a rip off.  I would hate to be using storage heaters just now.

I am beginning to think some suppliers are being a bit coy here.  The press has already conditioned everyone to expect a massive rise in energy costs iminently.  I suspect some are now offering customers coming to the end of a fixed term a very much higher new fixed rate, in the hope not many of them are savvy enough to reject it and drop onto the capped SVR instead.

His meter profile is probably E7 from before the time he was on go.
He will have received an email which will have told him that he can renew on 'Go' or pick a different fixed tariff (E7) or do nothing and drop onto the standard variable tariff, he just hasn't read the whole email ...

Hello, just to chip in here. I contacted octopus last week to go onto their go rate. The rates they're charging me is 29p during the day and 7.5p overnight (12:30am-4am), he's looking at the wrong tariff.
